"And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face earth and heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God, and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell gave up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Rev. 20:11-15)
TWO JUDGMENTS
Judgment is coming. The first judgment we are going to talk about is the great white throne of judgment. Not only are your deeds, even things done in secret, are going to be exposed by the light of God, but every idle word, and every idle thought is recorded.
This is not a judgment seat to decide guilt or innocence, and the total exposure isn't for your embarrassment, the question of guilt or innocence has been already decided. (you’re unforgiven if you’re here) and the total exposure is for your benefit, to show you where you do err from the Gospel.
WILL OF GOD
It is not the will of God for anybody to be unforgin, and have to appear before His great white throne. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take the wrath for your sins (death) on Himself on the cross for you.
You can exchange your unrighteousness for His righteousness. All the reasons you would have to appear before the great white throne are on Him. In exchange, you take on His righteousness.
Before, when you were walking in unforgiveness, all your transgressions would have been displayed for all to see. But now they are in a sea of forgetfulness, never to be remembered again.
JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (Jn. 3:16-17)
You just accepted Jesus as your savior-that’s great! Now what? Well, you no longer have to worry about the great white throne... But now what? Do we just sit and wait? Should we just keep to ourselves? No way! You are to be the light of the world! Not your Church, not your pastor, but YOU!
JUDGMENT OF REWARDS
The purpose of this seat isn't to decide guilt or innocence, but to judge your works. Everything you can touch or poses, is going to get burned up, all these fancy buildings people call Churches, while the widows, orphans, and poor go unattended... well, that's a different sermon for a different time.
Remember, it isn't money that's the root of all evil, but the love of money that's the problem.
TRIAL BY FIRE
"I f any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; but as by fire." (1Cor. 3:15) There will be some "carnal Christians" walking the golden streets of New Jerusalem who will have the tell-tale witness of the stench of smoke clinging to them for eternity.
TREASURE
The real treasure, is the treasure in Heaven, that can’t be held. The warm feeling from helping the less fortunate. Helping the poor. Feeding the hungry. Speaking for the oppressed.
